The 2008 Diocesan Budget was approved by Diocesan Synod on October 20th 2007.
Synod approved expenditure amounting to £12,904,900, of which approximately 90% will be spent on "people costs" including stipends, salaries, pension contributions and housing.
It was agreed that the parishes will be asked to contribute £8,032,600 in Parish Shares to the Diocesan Common Fund, an increase of 6% over 2007.
This increase will still not cover the increased costs arising from Clergy Pensions and the work required to improve our clergy housing. As intimated last year there will be a further reduction in parochial staff and a provision has been made to draw just over £0.5m from reserves. This pattern is predicted to continue until 2010 by which time it is hoped that we will be able to meet our expenditure from regular income.
