Welcome to the Diocese of York in the Church of England.
Through its parishes, the Diocese of York serves an area of England spread between the rivers Humber and Tees and from the east coast of Yorkshire to the foot of the Dales.
The Diocese of York is a family of
602 churches and
127 schools in 469 parishes committed to the praise of God through Jesus Christ and service to others, led and guided in their Christian faith and work by the
Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu.
The Archbishop of York is assisted by the Bishops of Hull, Whitby and Selby and the Archdeacons of the East Riding, York and Cleveland.
York Minster is the Mother Church of the diocese, and its administrative centre is
Diocesan House on the north side of York.
The diocese has its own beautiful retreat and conference centre at
Wydale Hall close to the North York Moors National Park.
The Diocese of York is a worshipping Christian community of faith, full of life and colour, and some of that life and colour may be glimpsed through this site.
