News of the 2006 Clergy Retreat below!

There are a variety of ways in which continuing spiritual formation can take place through events taking place in or through the Diocese. These are not, of course, the only way, and we hope that they will increase as current thinking about spiritual formation and spiritual direction bears fruit. Below you will find some general information, some contact details and information about the annual Clergy Retreat.

The Rev. Ann Coleman, Director of Wydale Hall, and as part of the NMD Team, is developing a range of resources and events in the area of spiritual formation. She is now running a two year course in Spiritual Direction and developing (with Ealine Bielby) an Equipping God's People course on Being a Spiritual Companion. For more information about these courses and the other events taking place through Wydale Hall, please contact her at Wydale Hall for more information or see the Wydale web site: www.wydale.org. Please also look at the 'events' section of this web site for details of events already planned.

The Annual Clergy Retreat
For a number of years there has been an annual clergy retreat for clergy in the Diocese of York. Generally this has been held at Wydale Hall and has been subsidised for those who hold the Archbishop’s license or Permission to Officiate in the Diocese. We also generally offer the retreat to clergy outside the Diocese depending on spaces available. Those from within the Diocese are asked to make a small contribution towards the cost of the retreat, while those from outside the Diocese pay the full amount. Suggestions for retreat leaders are always welcome; please send them to the Rev Ann Coleman.

The Spiritual Journey
Many people find it helpful to have a companion on their spiritual journey - some call this a Spiritual Director or Soul Friend.
There are a number of people - men and women, ordained and lay - in the Diocese who are available to help in this way. If you would like to speak to someone about this, contact the co-ordinator in your Archdeaconry.
