Information about the Personal Review of Ministry is found below. The Diocese of York places a high value on
Continuing Ministerial Education (CME), both for the future of the Church and its ministry and for the individual concerned. Clergy and Readers and others in ministry who have a commitment to continuing theological study, to continuing spiritual formation, and to developing the skills of ministry are among the Church’s most valuable resources.
The emphasis on CME arises out of the Church’s primary commitment to mission. As the report
Mind the Gap puts it:
The fundamental purpose of Continuing Ministerial education is to equip and develop the church’s ministers in order that they may stimulate and enable the whole church to participate more fully in the mission of God in the world. We would wish to add that CME is also important to meeting the challenges and changes facing the church in its mission, whether those challenges and changes come from society at large or from within the church.
The responsibility for CME rests primarily with each individual in his or her ministry. The Diocesan programme for CME exists to assist individuals in pursing their CME. Working primarily on a consultative basis, the CME Officers of the Diocese seek to find ways of using the resources of the Diocese to enable this to happen in creative ways, and in ways that meet needs expressed through the Personal Review of Ministry or through other kinds of discussion.
