Dance of the Conquest (1): Dance-drama celebrating the resistance of the K'iche' to the Spanish invasion in 1524. This remarkable drama has roots in preHispanic dance, and in 'Moorish' Dance adapted by Spanish friars to liturgical ends. The figure in the foreground is the brujo (sorcerer), diviner and counsel to the K'iche' king.
Baile de la Conquista (1): Baile-drama celebrando la resistencia de los K'iche's contra la invasión española en 1524. Este drama notable tiene raíces tanto en la danza prehispánica, como en los 'bailes de moros' europeos adaptados confines litúrgicos por los frailes españoles durante los primeros años de la colonia. En la primera fila se ve 'El Brujo', adivino y consejero del Rey K'iche'.
