
York Castle Museum

Housed in the old prison buildings of York, the Castle Museum is a tribute to the history of everyday life.

From the prison cell of a notorious highwayman to complete reconstructions of Victorian streets and shops, the museum is famous for some of the finest collections in the country. With thousands of items from 1580 to 1980 on show, this is a unique opportunity to view the objects which affected the lives of ordinary people.
